Where is Mali?
Located on the continent of Africa, Mali is surrounded by western Africa, specifically in its Saharan and Sahelian regions. The topography of the Mali country is defined by the Niger River that flows through its interior. The periodic flooding of certain sections of the river provides for the much needed fertile soil (required for agriculture) along its bank. Along with creating pasture for the livestock, the river also functions as one of the dominant means of transportation in the country.
Even after being one of the largest countries in Africa, Mali has a relatively small population, which largely centers along the Niger River. Numerically, the population of Mali is 14,533,511 (2012).The population of Mali constitutes of the Bambara (Bamana) ethnic group and language predominates, the Fulani (Fulbe), Dogon, and Tuareg.
With Agriculture as the dominant economic sector in the country, cotton production, cattle and camel herding, and fishing also contribute largely to the country’s economy.
With a land covering 1,220,190 square kilometers and 20,002 square kilometers of water, Mali makes up for one of the most beautiful tourist locations .
The country of Mali became independent in 1960, after gaining its sovereignty from France. The natives of Mali are referred to as Malian.

Sharing land borders with Algeria, Burkina Faso, Niger, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mauritania, Senegal, Mali country is famous for its islands. The colossal and jaw dropping beauty of Mali islands can never fail to amuse the viewers.
Lying within the inter tropical zone, Mali has a hot and dry climate, with sun staying close to its zenith throughout the year. Mali enjoys two distinct seasons, dry and wet. The dry season lasts from November to June and is characterized by low humidity and high temperatures.
While months from March — June causes the hot and dry winds to flow throughout the country spiking the temperature to 104 to 113 °F (40 to 45 °C), months of November, December and January brings along the cool breezes from the North-east, lowering the temperatures to 77 °F (25 °C).
The rainy season that starts from June to October, is preceded by black clouds, heavy rain storms, gusty winds, lightning, and thunder. Temperatures fall down the maximum during August when there are heavy rain showers.
